QuickBooks POS: Discounts and Pricing Overview

Today we will learn about the different Discounts on how you would use discounts correctly and Pricing in QuickBooks point-of-sale. Let’s begin:

  1. On the menu go to “INVENTORY”, then click “PRICE MANAGER”.
  • Price Manager will appear on your screen.
  1. Automatic Discounts
  1. You use this when your point-of-sale notices either a product or a combination of products that have an automatic discount set up, the discount will automatically take place on the price of the product or products.
  2. You could also filter the products that you’re going to use for your discount.
  3. For example, you could buy these three products for $10 but the original price of each of the product is $4, so when you compute it $4 * 3 = $12 you get a discount for $2 dollars.
  4. Also, you could set up a dollar discount or a percentage discount depending on what you want for the products.
  5. Manual Discounts
  1. From the word itself “Manual” you set up the discounts Manually.
  2. For example, your store is giving some flyers then from there you can set up a discount code just for your particular flyer.
  3. Coupons
  1. It creates a barcode that your point-of-sale understands.
  2. The Coupons can be use in two different ways: First if there is a manufacturer coupon then you can actually scan the manufacturer coupon barcode into your point-of-sale and the system will process on what to do with them and how much to give for a discount, second you can produce you own coupon.
  3. You could also produce a barcode out of your point-of-sale and you can actually send that to a magazine put it in a publication send it to a newspaper or have it where it can be printed out so people can see it and avail it in your store.
  4. Change prices for all or selected items in inventory
  1. Here you can have five different price levels.
  2. You can setup here you normal or retail price, special price, wholesale price, dealers’ price, and discounted price on certain dollar or percentage price.
  3. You can also assign a customer to certain price level. Or you could choose anyone for your price level like your employee, manufacturer, wholesaler, and so on.
