QuickBooks POS: Delete Old Company File
Today we will teach you how you can completely delete a company file in your point of sale. Let’s begin:
- First, we’ll going to check the company you want to delete.
- Go to “File” menu then click “Company Operations”.
- You can now see the different companies you have in your POS.
- For example, we will delete “Silly Sally” company. Let’s do it.
- On your “File Explorer” folder, click “Windows (C:)”.
- Go to “User” folder, then click “Public Documents”.
- Click “Intuit”, then click the version you are using for example, “QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 18.0”. Then click “Data”.
- On the “Data” folder, each one of these folders represents a company. Now before you delete a company file you have to “Close” the QuickBooks Desktop point of sale program.
- After you close the program, you might want to check on the Services to see if the program is still running. After that you can now delete “Silly Sally” company file. (Note: silly sally company file is just our example)
- On the start menu search for “Services” then click it.
- Find “QBPOS Database Manager v18”, as you can see it’s still running. In order to stop the program right click then click “Stop”.
- The status of your QBPOS Database Manager v18 disappear which means the program is not running anymore.
- Silly Sally Company file is now deleted.
- After you delete the company file, go to “Services” then right click on “QBPOS Database Manager v18” then click “Start”.
- Launched your QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 18.0.
- In checking the deleted Company File, go to “File” menu then click “Company Operations”.
- “Silly Sally” Company file is no longer in your database.
