QuickBooks POS: Cost Codes — Secret Codes to Instantly Know Your Cost
Today we will talk about Cost Coding, a very useful tool in QuickBooks of sale. Cost coding is a special way on your price tag that you can know how much that product cost but your customer won’t understand — it is a special code. Here’s how:
- Go to the “File” menu and then click on “Preferences” and then select “Company”.
- On the left column, you will see the different options. Click on the “Pricing”
- Here you will see “Price Tag Code”. In this setting, it will help you know the cost of the product by using codes that are in letters. The numbers will be substituted by letters; each letter has a corresponding number. For example, the number 1 corresponds to letter A, the number 2 corresponds to letter B, etc.
- This cost code will help you know the price of the product and when the item was last received.
- Once you have set the Cost code, you may now print the tags.
- For printing template, keep in mind that you should always select the ones with the “+cost”.
- Once you have it printed, there you will see the price of the product. In the given example, the letters “ABJJ” stands for the price of the product.
- On the right part of the receipt, you will also see the date when was the item received. In the given example, “JGBBAI” stands for the date.
